Telefonica’s brand new VO70 arrives in Alicante

After a 12-hour trip from Alginet (Valencia) to Alicante, the new “Telefonica” arrived on Uesday night at the port of Alicante. The boat skippered by Olympic medalist Iker Martinez became the first boat to compete in the next Volvo Ocean Race that arrived in the port of Alicante.

After midnight the hull of Telefonica finally entered the base of the Spanish team after a delicate operation of unloading the truck that had transported her to the starting port of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Since Wednesday morning, The team’s shore crew, led by skipper Iker Martínez and technical director Horacio Carabelli, is already working on the hull of Telefonica fitting her out and making her ready for her launch and first sail as soon as possible.
